What's the difference between a building designer and an architect?
Both design homes. "Architect" is a protected title in WA, reserved for registered architects. Izabela is a building designer, not a registered architect, and focuses on residential design: custom new homes, Passive House and healthy homes, working closely with builders and engineers.
Do I need to have a block before I contact you?
No. Many clients come to us while they're still looking. In a Strategy Session we can talk through what makes a good block for the home you want, so you buy with confidence.
Can I use my own builder?
Yes. If you already have a builder in mind, we'll bring them in at concept stage. If not, we'll invite two selected builders to review the concept and help you choose.
Do you design for small, narrow or sloping blocks?
Yes. Tricky blocks are often where good design adds the most value, through smart layouts, careful use of the slope and less money spent on site works.
How long does it take to design a new home?
Design and documentation usually takes 6–12 months, depending on the size of the home, the level of detail and council requirements.
Does my new home have to be a Passive House?
Not at all. Every home we design uses passive solar principles. Passive House is one option, and we'll help you choose the level of performance that suits your goals and budget.
