Set in the coastal suburb of Karrinyup, The Hillview House shows how thoughtful design can deliver exceptional comfort, very low energy use and a calm, beautiful home, without compromise.
At its core, this home is about balance: between performance and beauty, technology and nature, structure and feeling. Every decision was made with the family's wellbeing and Perth's climate in mind.

The design
Designed for Perth's climate.
Built to last a lifetime.
The concept connects the family's brief with the story of how they want to live, and turns it into a home that is uniquely theirs.
The form of the home is shaped by its northern orientation, so living spaces open toward the sun while carefully designed shading protects them. Winter sun warms the home, and summer heat is kept out, reducing reliance on mechanical systems and lowering energy use.
The spaces flow with intention: each zone connected yet defined, creating both openness and a sense of retreat. Natural light filters through while privacy and thermal control are maintained.

Inside, the home holds a steady, comfortable temperature all year, with fresh filtered air in every room and a fraction of the energy use of a standard Perth home.

Passive House standard
Designed and built to one of the world's most rigorous comfort and energy standards, applied to Perth's warm temperate climate. Certification is underway.
Continuous insulation
A continuous insulated envelope with no thermal bridges, so heat doesn't sneak in or out through the structure.
Airtight construction
A carefully sealed envelope with no draughts, giving controlled ventilation and steady indoor conditions all year.
Heat recovery ventilation
Constant fresh, filtered air throughout the home, removing allergens, CO₂ and moisture while keeping the energy inside.
High-performance glazing
Double-glazed, thermally broken windows that let in winter sun and keep summer heat under control.
Passive solar design
North-facing living with shading calibrated to Perth's sun path: warmth in winter, shade in summer.
